  1. The blog has a some-what informal tone to it as it describes the goings on in downtown L.A. The amount of variety in the posts make for a very intresting website and helps to hold your attention. I found myself going from one link to the next without having to search around much before I found something I liked. Fun articles like " Over 1500 Superheroes Claim World Record at LA Live" defintley caught my attention. Overall it's a good read for anyone but even better for someone who actually lives in L.A.It would be cool if there was a sight like this for columbus.

  2. When I first looked at the title of the blog, I though there would be general information about city life. Upon reading a couple of articles, I realized that the articles are mostly about Los Angeles with a couple from cities around the world. Having grown up in a sub-urban enviroment my entire life, I am use to having to drive to go anywhere. I was interesting to read about Los Angeles close some streets to all vehicles and opening them to pedestrians and cyclists. It was nice to read about how people that live in the city like to escape from that hectic lifestyle. It is interesting to see that a city has almost everything that a person can want and even a time to escape from the normal city life.

  3. This blog was very interesting to me because it had so much information. It is a blog used to spread information to the public about current events in LA. I found an article the caught my attention right away about people fighting against the use of coal and oil. This is a topic I feel strongly about, and I enjoyed reading a piece about others who feel the same way. Overall i feel this blog is a very good source for people to use as current updates about what's happening in LA.

  4. I found a blog about building a Hooters restaurant to the first floor of a former auto dealership. Personally I think this is a great idea because who doesn't like wings from Hooters. Also, all of the watresses are very nice. There also is a 25,000 square foot club on the third and fourth floors. I think this Hooters/club combo could be a great place to socialize with the "in" crowd. This will also boost jobs in LA, which is always a good thing. Any other thoughts on this matter?

  5. the blog has an intersting view of downtown-Los Angeles. the interfere is actively and modern, which is very different from the last history blog. the content is very clearly to reveal, it is easy for everyone to find any specific interst in LA. like me, i click the 'Shopping' part, and i find some amazing fashion's night activity, and list the address and time, which is very helpful for me to have fun in LA downtown. and the blog is very useful as an instructor for LA people or the travel to find and experience the passion life in LA downtown.

  6. I found a interesting and uplifiting aricle titled "L.A.'s First CicLAvia Brings Thousands to Car-Free Streets." On 10/10/10, an entire street was shut down for exclusive use of pedestrians, bikers, and skaters. For a busy city like LA, this was a very unique and short-lived experience for the city, according to the various posts I read on the blog. I didn't completely understand the significance of that day/event until I actually read through some of the posts. In general, people seemed very appreciative of having a free day to enjoy and explore their own city without the traffic brought on by cars. Commenters also brought up the idea of LA creating a bike path along the road, inspired by the many bikers on that day. This would increase exercise and bring people outside of their homes and to the outdoors more. Although this only went on for a couple of hours, it made a huge impact on the people and city of LA. Seems like a neat way to bring the community together.

  7. Going off of what Sayna said about the post "L.A.'s First CicLAvia Brings Thousands to Car-Free Streets." One thing that I thought really added to the post was the businesses on the street. The different businesses "reported that their sales were unaffected by the lack of car traffic". This is a great indication of how people can still get out without cars. This week at OSU we are in a "NO-IMPACT WEEK" based on Colin Beavan's novel "No Impact Man". One thing Beavan did without was cars, because of the carbon emission produced while driving. The relevance of the article to the university is surprisingly strong. Having people not ride cars, and still enjoy the day, as well as businesses still having unaffected sales is a really good thing. Days were streets are carless could be a fun eco-friendly alternative to what might be a usual boring day.

  8. I think that this blog is very interesting and it has a lot of things to look at. One part of the blog that interested me was under the development part. I read about how downtown Los Angeles is constructing a new park. I think that it is good that they are trying to make Los Angeles a better place, and it is giving the people of Los Angeles more things to do. I think that all places need change in order for the place to grow and become better. Even though it is costing 56 million dollars to rebuild this park I think that a lot of people will benefit from it. Also, it is good that they are going to remove the trees from the site, but preserve them in a different location, and then bring them back. I like that they are not being wasteful.

  9. Along with my classmates, this blog is very interesting. It gives information on a variety of topics. This gives people who love to write an opportunity to report interesting subjects to the internet world. It would also be beneficial to tourist to see what is going on in this city, and find places to visit.

  10. The first article that caught my eye was "L.A.'s First CicLAvia Brings Thousands to Carfree streets." This article was particularly interesting to me because in Spanish we learned about the "Ciclovia" in Bogota, Columbia. These two exhilarating events were similar in some aspects but also very different. From what I remember, in Columbia this event is a national holiday and has been occurring for many years. One of the things that is similar are the people's reactions to the event. Many people like it, they find it very exciting, relaxing and it is very good exercise. I am very happy to hear that the United States is taking part in this activity because it is a good thing for the community to do and it brings people together.

  11. I think this blog is generally pretty good. It has a lot to offer, and it appears to be organized based upon interests, kind of like a newspaper. The only aspects of the layout that I don't like are more of the sidebars. There's a column of Twitter feeds. To somebody who has no idea what businesses these are for, I'm confused. (Although, I'm sure these are probably helpful if you actually live in L.A.) There also seem to be a lot of places that talk about things that I think take away from the reading experience, like a "latest comments" column. I just think the emphasis should be more on the posts than the other little things. I looked at the art/culture category, since that is more of my interest. It was convenient that some of the posts were about upcoming events instead of just general things in L.A. They were events that wouldn't exactly be all over the news, and it showed a lot of things for all sorts of people to do.

  12. After reading the blog Downtown’s Broadway Meets Paris In Theatrical Runway Production, I think the main character in this paper, Donna Rayford is a very brave and tough woman. Just after five months from the marriage, she became a widow. In my mind, it is even too hard to imagine for ordinary people. However, she get over successfully. And even more, as a dance theatre director, she has planned a musical called one night in Paris to reperform the scenes of her honeymoon in Paris or make it more perfect. How inspired is this lady. She doesn’t fear to remember the death of her husband, to express her sadness to everyone. Maybe she wants others to share her unfortunate experience. But she is more willing to prove to others her toughness and her stubborn pursuit of happy life.

  13. I found this blog very interesting just because there was so much information presented. One thing that really caught my eye was L.A.'s First CicLAvia. I thought this was interesting because it talks about a 7.5 mile stretch of streets that was closed down to cars in downtown Los Angeles. The business' in the area said sales were unaffected due to people traveling in other ways than a car. This shows that people can still travel and do everyday things without having to have a car to get around. I thought the live updates was a great touch to this as well. The pictures also showed how people of all ages were participating. Children of all ages and parents were out together and enjoying the day together.

  14. This blog is interesting because the categories cover a broad range of topics, so anyone can find something that interests them. I read an article about Will Ferrell trying to beat the record for the largest gathering of superheroes. Then looking a few days after it was posted was a follow up article about how they beat the record of 1500 by having 1560. There were pictures posted of people dressed up as superheroes and some were really clever. My favorite category to look at was the shopping one because it had a lot of articles that interested me.

  15. If you lived in LA or were just trying to visit this site you could actually look and see what sort of activities will be taking place or have taken place. They actually show you LA for what its worth and what events or businesses are all about. They don't just talk about what celebrity wore this or did that. Its a genuine site and I think every city should have a site like this whether big or small.

  16. I found that the lack of breadth that this blog covered outside of LA to be it's greatest weakness. While I was able to find some articles that interested me, such as, "L.A.'s First CicLAvia Brings Thousands to Carfree streets." I enjoyed reading this article due to it's relevance to the whole Eco-friendly theme Ohio State is promoting on their campus. Overall I believe because it is centralized to one location it's appeal would turn many away. The article's target audience is people who live in LA and the surrounding areas. If I were to come across this site, being from outside of Cleveland and living inside Columbus I would have no interest for it.
