Overall this was an interesting website. I like that we can see other peoples opinions of movies. The one that stood out to me the most was the blog directed towards the movie RED. I went to see this movie this past Sunday and I have to say that I agree with the assesment made. The overall movie was good but I must say that Morgan Freeman's part in the movie was limited and could have had more. Rodney is the creator is the site and he really hit the nail on the head when it came to revising the movie. A blogger by the name of Mr James also agrees that the movie was awesome and overall more of a comedy than action.
I'm excited to learn from this blog that The Hobbit will soon start filming! I am a Lord of the Rings fan and the blogger Rodney who posted "The Hobbit Has Its Green Light" seems to be as well. Rodney provides legitimate sources that confirm it and writes about who's expected to star in the film. He addresses rumours, that even I have heard, about certain actors playing particular characters and sets them straight confirming who has signed on and who hasn't. Like this blog, the rest of the site seems to have some kind of inside information on blogged about movies. And for the public then being able to read about the starting, making, and other details about films just from these blogs is fantastic.
I think this was a great choice of a blog. It took a different approach from the other blogs by going down the path of popular culture. I enjoyed reading a bunch of the posts about possible upcoming movies and also reading comments on posts. In particular, there is a post about the ending to the movie “Inception” where Michael Cain says the top falls down and that it is real life. I read some of the posts by followers of the blog and got to see how they interpreted the ending and analyzed the movie to support their claims. One person said that it was real because in the entire dream scenes DiCaprio’s character is wearing his wedding ring but is not in the reality scenes. In the final scene he is not wearing the ring which leads you to believe that it is reality. Then someone commented on that comment saying that the character’s happiness has changed and therefore does not need to hold on the lost loved ones. The blog is very interesting and has something for everyone and sparks debate amongst its followers.
The first thing that caught my eye was how steamlined and clean the blog is. All you have to do is scroll down to scan through thousands of articles. The blog is clearly meant for someone who loves movies and provides them with up to date news on future movie projects and the latest trailers. The site also has reviews and even its own podcast for those who dont want to scroll through the site every week. What's most impressive is the sheer amount news that is provided on movies that have yet to even start filming. From casting to shooting location to script changes its all there in one convienent place.
Although I do like hearing other people's opinions of movies that have already been released, I think what caught my interest was the information about movies that aren't out yet. I enjoyed reading about new movies that are set to begin filming soon because they're movies that could strike my interest. For example, I have seen all the movies in The Lord of the Rings series, and found it quite exciting that they were going to begin filming "The Hobbit." I never read the books, and I think it will help piece everything together after seeing this movie. This is a good site to go to, to find out more about new movies.
One thing that I found interesting about this blog is that there are reviews for a lot of the movies. Even though there is only one opinion about the movie, it states the good, bad, and overall. It also gives a general idea of the movie is about, and/or shows the trailer. Under the opinion anyone can comment and state there opinion. They can say if they agree or disagree with the main opinion. I think that this is cool because it gives people something to talk and argue about. It is really easy to have a conversation about movies because a lot of people watch them and either like or don't like them. I also find that after reading the conversations/posts that people have about the movie,it gives me a better understanding of the movie.
This was a great choice for a blog. I found my interest under the "favorites" tab. There was very interesting topics such as "10 commen sense money saving tips for movie fans" and "The 8 things I'm sick of seeing in movies." Both of these articles had great facts. One was to inform fans of how to save money on watching movies and films. Either from going out to a movie or renting a movie. The other is just entertaining for the reader. The author talks about many different things he is tired of seeing in movies today. After reading the article you realize the things he is talking about is very true. You may not be tired of seeing it but it is interesting to see other point of views. This is a great website to get insight on movies as a whole.
The blog introduces the news about movies, which help the people find what they plan to see in the future day. the blogger updates 13 new movies in Oct 18, which is very frequently. The difference between official news and the blog is when the blogger post the information, he also has some his comments on it. this is good to lead to a discusstion for the people. besides what they have now, it is better to add a sub-title new-coming, which posts the newest movies will be released in recently. it is great helpful for the most people instead of saying some comments earlier than the movies.
This blog appeals to an audience that enjoys hearing about the latest information on movies, and other people's opinions on them. It is interesting that it includes the old, new, and upcoming movies. This blog does not show a clear representation of our class theme of representation of place. Unless you think about how movies have settings and represent a certain place. Although this site has its own bloggers, it allows you to be a part of the website by giving you the ability to comment on the blogs and have conversations with the blogger. Overall if you have an interest in movies and reviews of them this is a site for you.
I thought this was a great choice for a blog as well. When I first read the url before even going to the site, I was really not sure what to think of the topic. After visiting the site, I found it gave a lot of information about all different types of movies. It gives information about movies that have been released for several years and it gives information on movies that haven't been released or are in the process of being created. The one that caught my eye was "Bruce Willis wants Two More Die Hard Films." This really struck me because I have watched all the previous movies, I wouldn't call myself a huge fan, but I thought they were really good movies. I was just shocked because of the topic and people's reactions to the topic. It really shocked me that people that are obsessed with Die Hard movies don't want another one made. All in all, I thought this was a great choice for a blog.
The movie blog was a fun website to navigate and explore. It was very knowledgable and provided great insight to the movie industry. I appreciated reading about the upcoming movies, reviews, and movie rumors. However, I struggled to see the connection to the course theme. I suppose individual movies could be analyzed for their representation of the theme. At the same time I felt like that was a stretch of the theme, but some movies were good examples of the theme, but not the website as a whole.
I enjoyed looking at this blog because it had information on a lot of different movies, so everyone could find something that they're interested in and could learn more about it. The site included reviews, trailers, and some random facts about recent movies. I liked reading about upcoming movies that I had never heard of or that I was planning on seeing. Like others, I found it hard to see a connection to the course theme, but I still had fun looking at the blog.
What I really appreciated about the blog was the movie reviews. I usually never go and watch a movie the first day because I don't want to waste my money on a bad movie. I could come to this site and check out what everyone is saying about the different movies before I invest my time and money into them.
I agree with Marissa, I'm a little confused on how this blog relates to place. It seems that movies don't relate to the theme of presenting place(s). I do appreciate all the fun facts about movies and the exclusive news that comes in the blog. I really enjoyed hearing about the new Hobbit movie because I really enjoyed "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy. Even though the blog doesn't really relate to how places are represented, it is fun to navigate and learn about the different new movies being produced.
This blog is a great source to find information on what movies are coming out, who will be in those movies, and other facts about upcoming films, but other then that there is no real connection to the rest of the course theme. The site has plenty of tools to find out what movie you want to see including trailers and photos but the actual written reviews are short and poorly constructed. The only connection to place I can find is what the movies say about specific places but the written reviews don't even discuss that.
I found the breadth of topics covered in themoveblog.com to be my favorite aspect of it. It did not just include information about current movies, it also had topics about movie's from the past, present and future. Articles about Bruce Willis possibly doing two more new Diehard movies or an update of the next flick Morgan is in allowed me to track my favorite actors. However being a Harry Potter fan and coming across this article (http://themovieblog.com/2010/10/jk-rowling-teases-three-more-potter-books) really made my day. I wasn't expecting an article related to books on "themovieblog.com"
I almost like every trailer. The best parts of a movie are condensed to a trailer. So I have to say, I like trailers more original movies. The trailer provide people with the information of the movie, let people decide whether or not they like the movie based on the first impression got from the trailer. However, for some movies, the trailer is just like a kind of advertisement, the trailer is much more fantastic then the movie. So it is like a deception, it gives people the wrong impression how wonderful this movie is, but the people don't know that's all the good parts included in the trailer. So for me, I like enjoying the trailers; however, I will not judge one movie based on its trailer.
