When I first searched this site, I found it very difficult to find something to write about. I thought that this blog was very hard to navigate and I wasn't really sure what was going on. It took me a little while but one blog that caught my interest was titled "Central Ohio 9/11/2010." I found this article interesting because the first sentence asks, "Are you running in Jason's Thomas's Heros for Humanity run on September 11, 2010?" And this caught my eye because I like to run and if I would have known about this blog/event I would have loved to run in this event. Moreover, I believe that many citizens should take part in these kinds of events because it helps build the community and brings people together. The community needs to support our heros in any ways that we can.
I am not really a big fan of this blog at all. Looking at the blog it is very bland and unorganized. When you locate a topic you may want to read about there isnt much description. Also some topics are very outdated. Highlighting events like the best neighborhoods to trick or treat and homes that are currently on the market make this site seem like it is more for the adults of Columbus rather than the youth that resides here. While the blog intends to highlight Columbus, in my eyes, it makes the city seem dull.
Being from Upper Arlington, I was excited to read through this blog because it was about living in Columbus and neighborhoods in Columbus. The website did a good job highlighting aspects of living in Columbus and things that are available to Columbus residents. Upon further review, it became evident that this blog is run by HER Real Living, a prominent real estate company in Columbus. To me, this seems like its entries will be biased towards putting Columbus in a positive light. Their goal for their company is to sell houses in the Columbus area and putting out propaganda on why Columbus is so great and is a great place to live could help their business. I can not really take the information given seriously because of this.
I think the blog is good because it shows that there is a lot to do in Columbus and it fits well with the article that we had read about Columbus trying to come up with a motto. Not only are there posts about things to do but also what you can see and they show that Columbus can be a very picturesque landscape. As an out of state student, I do not know much about the city of Columbus and this blog let me see and read about the people, the place itself, and what people do in the city of Columbus.
This blog is damn near impossible to find a blog over half a page. I feel as if this is Columbus's best blog we have nothing to do but say "rabbit rabbit rabbit" every month and what food of the day it is. After seeing Leah's post, I do agree with Leah and the blog "Central Ohio 9/11/2010." I also would have participated in this event if I had known about it. It is a race in honor of a US Marine who helped survivors on 9/11. This is an important event so the heros of 9/11 are not forgotten. It is good that after 9 years we still rememeber this event.
This blog is pretty difficult to navigate and to find lengthy and interesting stories. once a title does catch your eye, the story that follows doesn't have much to offer. it's a good concept and overall, it does try to put columbus in a positive light, it just needs more. since there wasn't much to read for each story, the titles and topics did encourage me to explore those topics myself. i saw a title about Halloween and the best Trick-or-Treat neighborhoods, but since the story didn't seem very related to what I actually wanted to read, i searched the topic myself and found some cool information on haunted places in Ohio. even though it might sound strange, it's still another interesting way certain places can be represented.
it is happy to finally see a blog relative to Columbus. this blog is simple and clear without any extremelly funny and shinning pitcure or video. we are all in the Columbus and probably have to spent several years or more in the city. this is definitely a good website for us to pay attention on. i read the "Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit – November 1, 2010' , a little confuse about what's going on the paper, why it is good luck to say “Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit” the first thing each month? it will be much more intersting if the author can explain that. so does many other news, they sound funny, but too little details about the activities or events. there are a lot funny things to do in Columbus as the blog strive for helping Columbus people finding these things.
I actually found some comfort in the blog, "People Watching at the Waffle House" by Maureen McCabe. I guess that's because I simply like to people watch. McCabe ate at the crack of early at this place and just observed the kind of people in sight; some were the clientele of the strip club behind the Waffle House, Lollipops, formerly know as Gold Fox. And others that came in for a bite were the actual Lollipop employees. The blogger just really recognizes that it's the "colorful" people that just make everything that much more interesting and I completely agree. It's so easy to fall into a daze and just people watch, but it's the people that cross boundaries for individuality and maybe not even that but just to get by that make life worthy to watch. It's just comforting that McCabe sort of feels that way as well. Good blog.
When I first looked at this blog I was kind of interested, just because I am from a suburb of Columbus and I wanted to see what they had to say about it. I agree with Erica and I think that this blog is made for parents because it talks about local school districts and houses for sale around Columbus. I think that this blog could have been organized in a better way, and the articles should have been more in depth. I read many very short articles that didn't give a lot of information. Overall, I think that this site did an okay job of representing the suburbs of Columbus. Since I have lived in Powell all my life so I know a lot about it, and I think some things that were shown and said about it and my highschool were right and some things were off a little bit. I think that this is a good site for parents and adults who are looking to move to Columbus because it has a lot of different information.
Other than the site being plain it was good to read about some of the things happening around Columbus. Even though most don't relate to me being that I live on campus and don't have my own transportation. I did find one article informative and that was Bicentenario del Grito de Independencia. This talked about how to locate "taco trucks" and where they move to. I love tacos but not this site.
I really did not like the blog. I thought it was too plain and vague. It does have interesting things such as, locating the taco trucks, but overall it was just not interesting. It is hard for me to understand some of the articles and it is harder to read when you do not have interest in the topic. It talks about a lot of things that do not matter such as, the columbus rainbow. It is nice for people who like pictures of rainbows but I'm not much of a fan.
I am from the Dublin and Hilliard area, so when I saw the name of the blog I was excited to be able to relate to it. I searched my neighborhood which was featured, but found that it gave very little information about it. I found this blog difficult to navigate and that it didn't really have much interesting information. I searched for a long time trying to find an article that interested me, but was never successful. There was no question that this blog is about a certain place, but in my opinion it did not represent Columbus very well.
When I first saw this blog I thought it would have a lot of information about things to do around Columbus and it did, but the events were not described in much detail and some were hard to find. Overall I didn't like this blog because there is very little information in the posts and it is very unorganized and hard to navigate.
I agree with my fellow classmates that this blog is hard to navigate, plain, and unorganized. Those elements are important because it attracts people to the site. Sometimes if things are not appealing you will not be interested.
This blog is somewhat cluttered and shows a lot of information on the screen at one time. This makes the blog somewhat intimidating and hard to find what you want to read. The actual content is solid, with good articles discussing many important and interesting topics about Columbus and other Midwest areas. This is a good site for people who are not from the area to gain insight on what Midwest takes as important topics to discuss.
I am so glad finally there is a blog introducing the city of Columbus. I have been Columbus more than one year. But I still don't clearly know the history of this city. What's the culture of this city? What's the foundation of Columbus? These are the questions I really desire to know. Through this blog, I see Columbus originally was an agricultural city, and after so many years' development, it has been a comprehensive big city. In addition, I also get something about OSU, its developing experience, how it changed to the biggest university in US. I am really excited to get these knowledge; however, the blog is a kind of hard reading. There are too many information listed in the website, but no main point. But on the whole, it is great.
I found this blog to be rather boring. Based upon the name of the blog I was rather excited and to what possible places in may reveal hidden inside of Columbus that I had never heard of, but it turned out to be quite the opposite. While searching for an article of interest to myself or at least something I could relate to I had to go back over 2 months into the blog. And even then the article was not so much as of interest to myself as it was concern over Bed Bugs in Central Ohio. The site was dull and lacking color to distinguish different parts of the page, sites such as craigslist can pull this off, however Columbusbestblog lacks the proper organized layout to do so. I don't see myself using this blog in the future or recommending it to a friend.
The title of the blog implies that it would be something for all sorts of things happening in Columbus. However, the subtitle says that it's run by a realtor. Though it is about Columbus, it appears to mostly be about one thing - the housing business. The firts page depicts mortgage rates, the best neighborhoods, and other similar theemes. The organization of the blog is a bit haywire. At first, it appears that main entries take up one side of the page. However, with smaller entires, this varies. I found it very awkward that shorter entires were crammed together in a smaller space, and yet most of these were actual events that Columbus residents may be interested in. It took away from the potential benefit of reading the blog for people who aren't looking just to find out about the housing market.
Personally, I felt that this was a rather boring blog. There were a lot of links, but I was disappointed with many of them. I clicked on a link called "365 things to do in Columbus," but only got a list of three, and they were events that had already happened. I thought this blog had a lot of potential, but when it came down to it, it just didn't do anything with it.
